Deep Stairwell/Hole

This is another method based on the "Futuristic Deep Tunnel" tutorial. This tutorial shows you how to create what looks like a slipperly dip/stairwell going down a deep deep hole..

	Start a new document 600x600. Create a new layer and fill it with black. Reset your colors to default by pressing "D". Then go to Filter » Render » Difference Clouds. Press CTRL+F to reapply the filter. You should get a darker effect like mine.
	Then Filter » Stylize » Wind. Method: Wind Direction: From the left. CTRL+F about 6 times to reapply the filter.
	Now Images » Rotate Canvas » 90CW Then CTRL+F 6 times to reapply the wind filter.
	Then rotate the image back. Images » Rotate Canvas » 90CCW
	Then Filter » Sharpen » Unsharp Mask. Amount: 500% Radius: 2.5 Threshold: 0
	Then Filter » Distort » Polar Co-ordinates. Options: Polar to Rectangular.
	Then Filter » Stylize » Wind Method: Wind Direction: From the Left. Reapply about 6 times by press CTRL+F 6 times.
	Here you can do 1 of 2 things, each will give a different effect. Only do one of the following, NOT BOTH. 1. Image » Rotate Canvas » 90CW (surface points upwards.) or 2. Image » Rotate Canvas » 90CCW (surface runs flat.). In this tutorial, i'll do the option #1. Then Filter » Sharpen » Unsharp Mask. Amount: 500% Radius:1.2 Threshold: 0
	Then Filter » Distort » Polar Co-ordinate. Options: Rectangular to Polar.
	Now Duplicate this layer (CTRL+J) and then Edit » Transform » Flip Vertical. Use the Eraser tool brush size of 200 or 300 SOFT EDGE to erase out the black line to reveal the bottom layer, giving it a full circle look.
	Then Layer » Flatten Image to merge all the layers together. You should now have 1 single layer with an image similar to the left.
Option 1: 90CW	Now open the Color Balance (image » Adjustments » Color Balance) box and play around with the colors sliders to get some really nice colors. You can try The Filter » Sharpen » Sharpen to sharpen the image, giving it more rough details. You can also try the Filter » Distort Spherize filter with a negative (-) value. Like always, play around and come up with something unique

JackoLantern Halloween Pumpkin

This tutorial shows you how to create JackoLantern using some very simple technique. Just combine a few shapes and some layer styles..

	Start a new document about 500x500 and fill it with a black background. Set your forground color to orange. Then use the Ellipse Tool  and draw a round/oval shape.
	Next apply the following Inner Shadow layer style to this shape.
	Now use the eclipse shape too again, this time draw another round shape on top of the previous shape, about the same height but narrower in width. See example. (I made mine in WHITE so you can see the shape I drew, but your color should remain orange as above)
	Now apply the SAME layer style to this layer as you did to the previous layer. The easiest way to do this is hold down ALT, Then drag the layer styles name (in the layers pallete) over to the top layer then drop it.
	Now repeat the above 2 steps, and draw ANOTHER round shape above the previous, again, this time narrower but same height. (you should get the idea by now???)
	Now do it 1 more time, this last shape should be very narrow. Now we should have our basic pumpkin
	Create a new layer above ALL other layers. Now select the Polygonal Lasso Tool Now use this tool to draw out the mouth.
	Fill this selection on the new layer with white. Now apply the following layer styles to this new layer: Inner Shadow Gradient overlay
	Now make sure you are still working on the new layer (the one you drew the mouth), then select the Polygonal Lasso Tool again, then draw the EYES Now all you have to do is use the paint buck and fill it with a color. Since we are still working on the mouth layer, the layer style from that applies to the eyes. Repeat to draw the nose.
	Now merge all the layers (except background) together. One way of doing this is hide the background layer, then go to Layer » Merge Visible
	Now, you should be working on the merged layer. Got to Edit » Transform » warp Now move the warp grids as indicated by the image on the left. This will shape the pumpkin to look more like a pumpkin instead of it been so round...

This tutorial shows you how to apply the effect to 1 big letter, but of course, you can apply this same technique to a whole word or some objects. You dont have to follow my steps exactly as described, each step can be modified to suit your taste. Note: I learnt this technique from robouk's tutorial and I liked it alot, too bad his site is dead for a long time now, so I re-create this based on what i've learnt from his. 	Create a new image (mine is 300x300) with a gray background (#64635C). Use the type tool to create your text and make it big so it fit the canvas. Im using Times New Roman. Now rasterize the text layer (Layer>Type>Rasterize or right click on the text layer in the layer pallete and select rasterize). Ctrl + Click on the text later to create a selection around the text. Go to the channel pallete and create a new channel.
	On the new channel, fill the selection with white then deselect (CTRL + D). Then go to filter > Blur > Guassian Blur and useraduis = 10 Then apply the Guassian Blur again, this time, use raduis = 5 Apply Guassian Blur again and this time use raduis = 3. One more time, and use raduis = 1 Now go back to the layers pallete and select the type's layer.
	Now with the type layer selected, go to Filter > Render > Lighting Effects and use the following settings : CLICK TO VIEW Now go to image>Adjustments>Curves and use the following settings: CLICK TO VIEW Now apply the Lighting effects again (Filter > Render > Lighting Effects) and use the following settings: CLICK TO VIEW That's it, now if you want, you can apply the following drop shadow and stroke settings, this is how I came to the result you see to the left. DROP SHADOW and STROKE

Ice Text

In this tutorial, i'll show you how to make your text freezing cold. This tutorial will also show you how to use this ice text on any colored background..

	Start a new document 700x400px with blue HEX:#043A79 background.
	Switch over to the Channel's Pallete and create a new channel. (if the channel pallete is not visible, go to "Windows » Channels". While still in the channels pallete and with the new channel (Alpha 1) selected, select the Type Tool and type your text. Make it as big as possible.
Pixelate » Fragment Pixelate » Crystalize	Now duplicate this new text channel, to do this, drag the channel into the "create new channel" icon. This will not be Alpha 1 copy. Go to Filter » Pixelate » Fragment. Repeat this step for 3 times. Then go to Filter » pixelate » crystalize. Enter 6. (This depends on the size of your text. play around)
	Go to Select » Select All, then Edit » Copy Then go back to the layers pallete. Then Edit » Paste Then go to Image » Adjustments » Hue/Saturation.Match the following settings:
	Go to Image » Rotate Canvas » 90CW
	Go to Filter » Stylize » Wind Method: Wind Direction: From the right
	Go to image » Rotate Canvas » 90CCW
	Go back to the Channels Pallete. and click on the original text channel (Alpha 1) to select it. Then go to Filter » Blur » Guassian Blur. Enter: 8.0
	Go to Image » Adjustments » Levels Input Levels: [ 0 ] [ 0.15 ] [ 60 ] CTRL+Click on Alpha 1 (the original text channel) to make a selection around the text. Then go back to the Layer's Pallete
	Create a new layer. Press D and X on the keyboard to reset the colors back to default white and black. Go to Filter » Render » Clouds
	Go to Filter » Sketch » Chrome Set: Detail: 3 Smoothness: 3 You can play around with this to get different effects.
	Apply Inner Glow layer style to this chrome layer. (Blue used: #39C5FF )
	Change the blending mode of the chrome layer tooverlay, and set the opacity to about 80% Now you are done, but what if we want to place our text on another color background? we cant, because it is already on a colored background. The following steps will show you how to overcome that.
	Go back to the Channels Pallete, CTRL click on Alpha 1 to select the original text channel, then go back to thelayers pallete. Go to Select » Inverse, then hit delete to delete, thendeselect.
	Go to Image » Rotate Canvas » 90CW. Go to Filter » Stylize » Wind. Method: Wind Direction: From the right
	Go to image » rotate Canvas » 90CCW.
	Now your ice text can be place on any colored background.
